Japan Post shipping to the United States has now resumed after a long suspension.

DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) support is now available for all shipping methods currently offered for U.S. orders, including FedEx, DHL, and Japan Post.

Please note:
Although Japan Post is now available again, delivery delays are still likely for the time being. For faster and more stable delivery, we recommend using DHL or FedEx whenever possible.

The European Union will introduce new customs rules for certain low-value imports starting July 1, 2026.

Under the new EU rules, shipments imported into the European Union with a value of less than EUR 150 may be subject to a customs duty of EUR 3 based on the HS code or customs declaration line of the items.

This customs duty is separate from VAT. VAT for eligible EU orders may continue to be collected at checkout and handled through the IOSS system where applicable.

At this time, some details of the new customs process are still unclear, including how each shipping carrier and each destination country will handle the new EUR 3 customs duty together with IOSS.

Current handling policy for DHL and FedEx shipments:
For the time being, when an eligible EU order is shipped by DHL or FedEx, LapinNoir.JP expects to continue handling VAT through the IOSS system where applicable. The new EUR 3 customs duty and any related carrier, customs, or local handling fees may be charged to the recipient by the shipping carrier or customs authority upon delivery or during customs clearance in the destination country.

If you receive a payment notice or instruction from DHL, FedEx, the local postal service, or the customs authority, please follow their instructions and complete the required payment in order to receive your package.

Important notice for Japan Post shipments:
According to information announced by Japan Post, for certain EU destinations, international postal shipments using the IOSS system may be delayed or returned depending on the decision of the destination country’s customs authority or postal operator.

This risk may apply to Japan Post shipments sent to the following countries: Austria, Denmark, Germany, Finland, France, Belgium, Portugal, and Luxembourg.

For orders to the countries listed above, LapinNoir.JP may contact the customer before shipment and ask the customer to choose one of the available options.

• Option 1: Ship without using IOSS
  We will refund the VAT collected at checkout before shipment. The recipient will then be responsible for paying VAT, customs duty, and any handling or customs clearance fees directly to the carrier, local postal service, or customs authority upon delivery or during customs clearance in the destination country.
• Option 2: Store the order temporarily
  We will keep the order in storage free of charge until the shipping and customs procedures become clearer or until IOSS-compatible handling becomes available. Please note that if a cancellation is requested after the storage arrangement has begun, a 20% storage maintenance fee may apply.

For Japan Post shipments to other EU member countries not listed above, we currently expect to handle shipments in a similar way to DHL and FedEx shipments where possible: VAT may be handled through IOSS where applicable, while the new EUR 3 customs duty and any related fees may be charged to the recipient upon delivery or during customs clearance.

This is not a handling fee charged by LapinNoir.JP.
The EUR 3 customs duty and any related fees are based on EU customs rules, destination country rules, and the procedures of the shipping carrier, postal operator, or local customs authority.

Please note that this situation is still developing. The final import process may differ depending on the destination country, shipping carrier, postal operator, customs declaration details, HS code, item classification, and applicable customs regulations.
